Job Description Summary
Oversee the production of all Thirteen Kids web sites, the thirteen.org Kids Channel, and collaborate with broadcast producers in developing future children’s properties. Build traffic and community on both national and local levels.
Overview
Thirteen/WNET produces web sites both as companions to children’s television programming (Cyberchase, Franny’s Feet) and web-only properties. These extremely popular sites offer a broad range of fun and educational games and activities in a safe environment. The Web Manager for Kids would be responsible for managing both the daily and long term needs of these sites as well as working with the Children’s Educational Programming department (CEP) in developing future children’s focused projects.
Responsibilities
- Rebuild the Thirteen.org Kids area to dramaticallyincrease traffic.
- Manage Associate Producers, Designers, Production Assistants, and Freelancers who are doing near and long term site updates.
- Work closely with Children’s Educational Programming department in developing content for continuing programs/sites as well as in developing new properties.
- Work closely with PBS and PBS Kids when developing and deploying new content.
- Handle budgeting and staffing requirements
Requirements
- 3+ years experience producing and managing children’s web properties
Pluses
- Web production technical skills (HTML/CSS/Javascript coding, Photoshop/Illustrator/Flash, Perl/PHP/MySQL)
- Game platform development (PC, Playstation, Xbox, Gameboy)
