Program Scheduling & Acquisition

Description:
To assist Program Coordinator and provide support and research for the Scheduling and Acquisitions Department in new initiatives (Reel 13 and SundayArts), as well as ongoing ones, including Reel New York and others.

Intern Responsibilities:
• To assist in the preparation for Reel New York, Thirteen’s Independent Film Series 30%
• To assist in the preparation for Reel 13 Indies, Thirteen’s Saturday Night Film Festival and 20%
• To assist with Thirteen’s SundayArts programming schedule when needed. 10%
• To work closely with DUBZ dept and evaluations to ensure programs are ready for air and keep records on the current status of films 10%
• Prepare correspondence for program submissions; alert department when completed and return aired films to producers 20%
• To assist with other support, research, and clerical projects, as needed, for Program Coordinator and senior staff. 10%

Students Accountability:
Person shall report to John Sefakis, Program Coordinator, who provides support to two Senior Producers/Managers. Managers set work and priorities, which are then assigned appropriately.

Educational Requirements:
Computer literate, especially with Excel and MSW and the ability to pick up new computer systems quickly. Excellent communication skills, verbal and written. Must be able to interact with other departments comfortably. Some knowledge of public broadcasting in general, and Thirteen in particular. Interest and knowledge of documentaries and independent films is helpful, but not necessary. Compulsive attention to detail, pitch-in attitude and “team player” essential.
